Game One Box ScoreGame Two Box ScoreA furious sixth-inning rally prevented the Albright College softball team from earning a split on Tuesday, as the Lions lost to host Franklin & Marshall 5-1 and 5-4.
No Diplomat passed second base in game two until the sixth inning, as the Lions built up a 4-0 lead.
Freshman
Amanda Toto led off the top of the second with a triple, and opened the scoring on
Marguerite DeLucas' double. Albright tacked on three more in the third, with another RBI hit from DeLucas followed by
Jackie Bohanan's RBI single and another unearned run.
Franklin & Marshall rallied in the bottom of the sixth however, batting around and benefitting from three Lion errors.
Sarah Kirk led off with a single and consecutive batters reached on errors to load the bases.
Malorie Sassaman's single scored two and cut the deficit in half.
Sam DeNoville then singled home Sassaman, and
Rachel Laufer came home on yet another defensive miscue.
Ashley Hartshorn's sacrifice fly with one out plated Denoville for the go-ahead run.
Albright threatened in their final chance, with pitcher
Katie Civitello reaching third base following an error and a
Natalie Carlucci single. Toto grounded out to end the game however.
DeLucas was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in the second game. Toto went 2-for-4 and scored twice, while Carlucci was also 2-for-4.
Freshman
Shelby Snyder led the Lions in the opener, going 2-for-3 and scoring the lone Albright run in the sixth inning.
Denoville's fourth inning homer led the Diplomats, who added three in the bottom of the sixth after the Lions had pulled to within a run.
Albright is 7-14 and will host Messiah on Saturday in Commonwealth Conference action.
