READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions women's basketball team will host the Lycoming Warriors in the semifinal round of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m.
Tickets: All Albright students will be admitted free to the game thanks to The Office of Sam Wesner, the Vice President of Student and Campus Life. The MAC mandates the prices for adults at $6, senior citizens at $4, Students (with valid ID) and children $2, and for children under 6 with an adult are free. All tickets can be purchased at the gate.

MAC Commonwealth Tournament: Albright is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and faces the No. 3 seed Lycoming. No. 1 seed Messiah will host No. 4 Stevenson on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups on Wednesday will play in the championship game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
Records: Albright enters the tournament with a 19-6 overall record with a 14-2 mark in conference play. The Lions are 12-1 since the calendar year changed to 2018, and a perfect 9-0 record at home this season. A win would give the Lions their fourth straight 20-win season. Lycoming ended the regular season at 17-7 overall behind a 12-5 record in league action. The Warriors have lost two of its last three games after winning its three previous games.
Scouting the Lions: Albright is second in the MAC Commonwealth in scoring defense, allowing just 57.6 PPG, and third in scoring offense at 67.6 PPG. The Lions also hold the best rebounding margin in the conference, and have limited their opponents to just 35.1 rebounds per game which is also best in the conference. Alysha Lofton in 3
rd at 14.3 PPG, and
Devan Horka in 8
th at 12.7. Lofton also leads the MAC Commonwealth in steals at 2.7, ranks third in assists at 4.0, and is seventh in rebounding with 8.0. Mazzarelli leads the conference with 2.1 three-pointers made per game, and Horka ranks second in field goal percentage at 48.5 percent.
Lions in the Playoffs: Albright has made the MAC Commonwealth Tournament in four straight years and have advanced to the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game in each of its last three seasons. This is the second consecutive season that the Lions have hosted the Warriors in the semifinal round of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
Scouting the Warriors: Lycoming also ranks in the top three in the major scoring categories as they are 2
nd in scoring offense at 69.5 PPG, and third in scoring defense by allowing opponents just 59.4 PPG. They lead the MAC Commonwealth in field goal percentage defense by limiting opponents to 33.9 percent, and rank third in rebounding offense at 42.7 rebounds per game. Senior Shelby Mueller leads the MAC Commonwealth in scoring at 15.3 points per game, and ranks second in rebounds at 10.0. Sophomore Akilah McFadden ranks second on the team with 11.0 PPG, and ranks seventh in the conference with 3.5 assists per game.
The Warriors in the Playoffs: Lycoming is making its third straight appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament and fifth appearance in its last six years. The Warriors have only made one appearance in a conference tournament championship game when they made it in 1990 to the former MAC Northern Division championship game.
Series: The Lions hold the series lead with a 14-9 record which includes last season's MAC Commonwealth Tournament win over the Warriors. Albright currently holds a nine game winning streak over Lycoming.
Last Meeting: Albright posted a 62-57 win over the Warriors just three days ago at the Bollman Center to close out the regular season. All five Lions starters finished in double-figures in scoring with Lofton leading the way with 13 points. Senior
Jane Joyce posted a solid all-around game with 11 points, seven assists, seven steals, and six rebounds en route to becoming the Lions all-time leader in career assists. Mueller posted a huge game for the Warriors with 23 points and 10 rebounds to earn a double-double. The Lions also won the January 10
th meeting in Williamsport this season, 64-53.
Head Coaches: Janice Luck has posted a 220-195 record in 16 seasons as the head coach of Albright. She is currently the winningest women's basketball coach in Albright history, and this is the seventh time overall that she has led the Lions to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. Under Luck, the Lions won the 2015-16 MAC Commonwealth Championship in addition to making three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Christen Ditzler is in her 25
th season as the head coach of Lycoming. She has compiled a 306-312 record during that span to become the winningest coach in Warriors program history. She led the Warriors to their first postseason win since 1997 last year when they defeated Lebanon Valley in the play-in game of the MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
