READING, Pa. – The Albright Lions men's basketball team will travel to face Stevenson in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament tonight, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m.
Tickets: The MAC mandates the prices for adults at $6, senior citizens at $4, Students (with valid ID) and children $2, and for children under 6 with an adult are free. All tickets can be purchased at the gate.

MAC Commonwealth Tournament: Albright is the No. 5 seed in the tournament and faces the No. 4 seed Stevenson. No. 1 seed Arcadia will host the winner of this game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winners of the semifinal matchups on Wednesday will play in the championship game on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
Records: Albright enters the tournament with an 8-16 overall record with a 7-9 mark in conference play. The Lions have won three-straight games with two of them coming on the road. Albright is also 3-1 in the month of February. Stevenson ended the regular season at 14-11 overall behind an 8-8 record in league action. The Mustangs have lost four in a row and seven of their last nine games overall.
Scouting the Lions: Albright is second in the MAC Commonwealth in field-goal percentage defense, allowing teams to shoot just 42.1 percent from the field, and second as well in three-point percentage defense at 30.7 percent. The Lions also rank second in blocks per game at 4.21. Sophomore
Samuel Majekodunmi leads the MAC Commonwealth in scoring at 18.4 points per game and has tallied 13 20-point outings. Senior
Jared Rappoport ranks second on the team in scoring at 11.3 and in field goal percentage for the conference at 64.5. Rappoport also leads the conference in blocks per game at 2.8, and is one block away from setting a new single-season blocks record at Albright. Sophomore
Sidney Brown ranks fifth in the conference with 48 three-pointers.
Lions in the Playoffs: Albright has made the MAC Commonwealth Tournament in three straight years and have advanced to the MAC Commonwealth Championship Game in each of the last two seasons. This is the first 4-5 game the Lions have played in since the 2013-14 season when they lost to Hood,
Scouting the Mustangs: Stevenson ranks second in the MAC Commonwealth in scoring offense at 79.3 points per game and is tied for the league lead with a 46.0 field goal percentage. The Mustangs rank third in the conference in rebounding offense at 38.2. Stevenson has two players in the top-five in the conference for scoring led by senior Montaque Wright, who averages 17.9 points per game to rank third. Wright also leads the conference in steals per game at 2.5 and is third for assists per game at 4.3. Junior Mark Terrell ranks fifth at 17.3 points per game and is fifth in field-goal percentage at 59.1. Senior Marcus Dentley ranks third in the conference in field-goal percentage at 62.7 and leads the team in rebounding at 5.6.
The Mustangs in the Playoffs: Stevenson is making its fifth appearance in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament since joining the league in the 2012-13 season. The Mustangs last appeared in the tournament in the 2015-16 season when they fell to Lycoming 89-75 in the 4-5 game.
Series: The Lions hold the series lead with a 9-7 record after splitting this years contests. Albright has won six of the last eight meetings with the Mustangs dating back to the 2015-16 season. This is the first ever postseason meeting between the two programs.
Last Meeting: Albright defeated Stevenson 75-69 just two days ago on Saturday to conclude the regular season. The Lions built a lead by as much as 19 points in the second before holding off a late Mustangs rally. Rappoport posted a solid all-around game with a game-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, three rebounds, and four blocks. Sophomore
Troy Smoot added 13 points off the bench for the Lions, while Wright led the Mustangs with 18 points. The Mustangs took the first meeting of the season at Stevenson in overtime by a score of 96-95 after rallying from 12 points down with 3:06 left in regulation.
Head Coaches: Rick Ferry has posted a 257-210 record in 18 seasons as the head coach of Albright. He is currently the second winningest men's basketball coach in Albright history, and this is the 12th time overall that he has led the Lions to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. Under Ferry, the Lions have won two MAC Commonwealth Championships in addition to making two NCAA Tournament appearances with the previous coming last season.
Gary Stewart is in his eighth season as the head coach of Stevenson. He has compiled a 104-107 record during that span after spending time as a head coach at his alma mater, La Verne, and at UC Davis as they transitioned from Division II to Division I. He has led the Mustangs to a pair of MAC Commonwealth Tournament Championship games in 2013-14 and 2014-15 along with back-to-back ECAC Championships in the same seasons.
