Terrell Named USBWA National Player of the Week

READING, Pa. – Following her performances on the court last week, Albright women's basketball sophomore Dejah Terrell was named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III National Player of the Week, announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Terrell becomes the first student-athlete from Albright to earn the honor as she averaged 37.0 points and 16.0 rebounds over two conference matchups last week.  Albright ranks No. 13 in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Poll with a 15-1 record overall and 6-1 record in the MAC Commonwealth. This is the third weekly accolade Terrell has earned this week along with being named MAC Commonwealth women's basketball Offensive Player of the Week, and earning a spot on the D3hoops.com women's basketball team of the week.
 
Last Wednesday, Terrell scored 33 points, including a career-high six threes, and pulled down 17 rebounds in an 83-72 conference victory against Widener.  In Albright's first loss of the season at Messiah on Saturday, the Berks Catholic product registered 41 points to set the single-game scoring program record that was once held by Jarra Rusnock and Nicole Buist.  Terrell totaled 74 points in her 66 minutes on the court over the two games behind shooting 27-of-48 (56%) from the floor, 10-of-17 (58%) from deep, and 10-of-11 (90%) from the line.  She also added one steal, five blocks, and three assists last week.
 
Terrell currently ranks fifth in NCAA DIII women's basketball with 23.1 points per game to lead Albright, while the team sits at number 10 in the nation in scoring offense with 80.9 points per game.
 
The sophomore continues to pace the MAC Commonwealth scoring by 65 points and ranks second in conference rebounding with 11.7 per game.  Terrell additionally ranks second in blocked shots with 3.2 per game and is fifth in field goal percentage with 49.5 percent.
