READING, Pa. – The Albright men's basketball program has announced the addition of Troy Smoot ('22) to the 2023-24 Albright men's basketball coaching staff. Smoot will serve as an assistant coach for the program and will begin effective immediately.

Head men's basketball coach and co-athletic director Rick Ferry is thrilled to be adding Smoot to the coaching staff. "We are excited to welcome Troy back to Reading and to help with the program. Troy has a very high basketball IQ that should translate well to coaching. Additionally, he has a good feel for the needs of players, combined with an understanding of Albright basketball, making him an ideal person for this position."

Smoot was a member of the Albright men's basketball team from 2017-2022 playing five seasons for the Lions. Smoot was a mainstay in the Albright lineup during his playing days, appearing in 89 total games and starting 43 of them. Smoot was a marksman from downtown for the Lions finishing his career as a 35% percentage shooter from beyond the three-point line.

Smoot is originally from Glen Burnie, Maryland and a graduate of Glen Burnie high school. The newly minted assistant coach graduated from Albright College in 2022.

Smoot comes to Albright after working as an Assistant Branch Manger for Enterprise.
