Six Run Seventh Inning Propels Baseball to 12-5 Win Over Muhlenberg

Albright got back in the win column on Monday afternoon scoring 12 runs on 12 hits while getting a quality start from first year pitcher Colby Yaich.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Albright College baseball team (4-12) begun their home and home series against Muhlenberg (6-11) this afternoon on the road. Albright used a six run seventh inning to pull away late from Muhlenberg winning the game 12-5.

Jack Gilmer continues to swing a hot bat collecting three more hits this afternoon. Gilmer ended with two RBIs and a stolen base. The three hit game is the first three hit game of the season for Gilmer.

Chris Gorla and Thomas Aulisi both ended with two hits. One of Gorla's hit went for a double while the first-year student-athlete ended his day with a walk and two runs scored. Aulisi added two RBIs and two runs scored to his box score.

Albright's seventh inning won the game for the Lions as they scored all six runs with two outs in the inning. The Lions sent 10 batters to the plate in the inning scoring six runs to take a 10-4 lead after seven innings of play.

Thomas Aulisi had the big hit of the seventh inning singling to center field that plated two runs. Aulisi scored Trey Smith and Lucas Myford for the third and fourth runs of the inning.

Colby Yaich tossed the second quality start in as many days for the Lions pitching staff keeping the Muhlenberg bats off balance. Yaich went six strong innings only allowing three earned runs while striking out for picking up the win. The win and quality start are the first of Yaich's Albright career.

Trey Smith finished his day with a team high three RBIs going 1-3 at the plate with a single. Smith did not give his at bats away earning a sac fly and another RBI on a hit by pitch. The three RBIs in a game marks a new career high for Smith.

Nick Barton tallied two RBIs and two runs scored. Lucas Myford and Ethan Karel rounded out the hits for the Lions this afternoon. Myford came around to score a team high three runs in today's game.

Albright will be right back on the field tomorrow afternoon hosting Neumann University. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. from Kelchner Field.
