READING, Pa – Softball (4-22, 1-9 MAC Commonwealth) returned to action to play their NFCA Strikeout Cancer Games against Widener University (9-11, 4-6 MAC Commonwealth). After a pair of games played, the visiting pride would end up sweeping the Lions by scores of 13-3 and 10-2.
Junior
Jadelyn Van Winkle appeared in both games pitching a combined 8.1 innings and four strikeouts. Van Winkle continues to be a crucial innings eater for the team leading all players in innings pitched by a fair margin.
Sophomore
Madison Lasko found herself on base both games via a walk and a single. Lasko's 12 walks lead the team along with having a top five OBP of .375.
First year utility player
Marissa Rovenstine had a perfect three for three day at the plate in game two to go along with a pair of hits in game one. With a .355 batting average, Rovenstine leads the team in hits while also posting a top three OBP of .417.
Sophomore
Monica Hernandez recorded three combined RBIs in the double header to raise her team lead to 14 while also being good for second on the team in hits with 21.
Senior
Veronica Heckman scored her 12
th run of the year, tying her with Rovenstine for the team lead.
Juliette Licata had a three-hit performance in game one with two doubles and runs scored, one of which coming on a heads up play after a wild pitch. The first year currently leads the team in batting average (.367), doubles (8), slugging (.551) and OPS (1.007). Licata's eight RBIs are good for third on the team.
