Women’s Tennis Set for NCAA Championships First Round Matchup Against Texas-Dallas

The Albright women’s tennis team is set to compete in their first NCAA women’s tennis Championships in school history on Friday, May 10. The Lions officially punched their ticket to the tournament by winning the MAC Commonwealth 5-0 over Messiah.

READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis is having one of, if not the best season in program history in 203-2024. This year's team became the first team to win the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth women's tennis Championships in program history. Albright will face University of Texas at Dallas in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Friday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m.

The Lions are on a roll entering the NCAA Championships having won 11 matches in a row and 15 of their last 16. Albright went a perfect 6-0 during MAC Commonwealth regular season play. In the six conference matchups, the Lions outscored their opponents 45-7. The MAC Commonwealth playoffs were the same story as team beat Alvernia 5-2 in the semi-finals and swept Messiah 5-0 in the Championship.

The Johns Hopkins Regional will host Albright, University of Texas at Dallas, Williams and Washington & Lee. Williams and Johns Hopkins will faceoff in their respective first round matchup.  

The Comets from University of Texas at Dallas are making their fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. The Comets qualified for NCAA's by winning the American Southwest Conference with a 10-5 overall record and a 4-0 record in conference play. In last year's tournament, UTD defeated Whitman 5-2 before losing to eventual National Champions Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the second round.
