FLEETWOOD, Pa. – Albright teed it up this afternoon in the Battle at Berkleigh Tournament hosted by Premiere College Tournaments. The Lions finished second as a team, continuing their strong play to begin the fall season. Through five tournaments this fall, the Lions have placed no worse than fourth in any such tournament.
Today's tournament was played at Berkleigh Golf Club in Fleetwood, Pa. The course was in good condition considering the wet conditions over the past couple days in the area. The course played 6729 yards for a par of 72.
Albright shot a 296 as a team marking the new low team score in the 2024 fall season. The previous low team score was 303 which was bested by seven strokes this afternoon. Albright slotted into second overall out of 14 total teams beating out traditionally strong teams in the University of Scranton and Stevens Institute of Technology.
Nontaphat Veeratecha played very well in his second career collegiate tournament. Veeratecha shot a -2 under par for a round of 70 to finish in a tie for second overall. The first-year Lion tallied four birdies and an eagle. Each time Veeratecha recorded a bogey, the very next hole was played at under par having three bounce back holes on the day showing the young Lions poise on the course.
Federico Cobos Kallmann earned his second top 10 finish of his Albright career finishing T7 with an 18-hole score of 74. Cobos Kallmann's ended his round in style eagling his last hole of the day on the par five fifth hole. Cobos Kallmann's last six holes on the day were played at three under par.
Oliver Liljeblad finished T11 with a great round of 75. Liljeblad birdied five total holes including two of the four par threes. Albright led the field in scoring average on par threes due in large part to Liljeblad's strong play on them.
Evan Twyman was the fourth Lion to finish inside the top 20 placing T20 overall. Twyman played an even par back nine after starting his day on hole number four. The Albright Lions round of 77 was two strokes better then his opening round of the season.
Chris Dirita took home T24 shooting a 78 on the day. DiRita had two birdies on the day, including two on the back nine. The second, third, fourth and fifth hardest holes of the day did not phase DiRita as he played them at even par.
