Men’s Golf Wraps up Two Day Golden Oaks Shootout on Monday Afternoon

Albright competed in the two-day Golden Oaks Shootout over the past two days with competition wrapping up today. The Lions finished in a tie for third place.

FLEETWOOD, Pa. – The Lions men's golf team competed in the two-day Golden Oaks Shootout on Sunday and Monday. The competition was played at Golden Oaks Golf Course which played at 6492 yards and a par of 72. The Lions finished in a tie for third out of nine teams.

The Lions fared well on day one of the tournament turning in a tremendous team score of 302. The 302-team score is the fourth lowest single day team score during the 2024 fall season for Albright.

"I am happy with the overall two rounds this weekend. Just a couple years ago, the team score would be right up there with the best in the MAC." Said coach Lamm, "The team should be pleased knowing that just shaving one or two strokes of their rounds will have them competing for a conference title."

Albright was one of three MAC Commonwealth teams in this weekends field. Hood placed 2nd overall to pace the MAC Commonwealth teams while Albright edged out Alvernia by 12 strokes over the two days ending the tournament with a 309 second day team score. Albright's two day team score was 611.

Federico Cobos Kallman put together two impressive rounds this weekend. Today, Cobos Kallman was lights out down the stretch to achieve back to back rounds of 73. Cobos Kallman went three under par over his last seven holes without any bogeys. Overall, Cobos Kallman had four total birdies in his round propelling him to a top five finish.  

Nontaphat Veeratecha was as steady as they come over his 36 holes this weekend. Veeratecha has impressed during his short time at Albright shooting back to back rounds of 76 this weekend. Veeratecha finished in a tie for 14th place resulting in a two-day score of better than over half the field.

Chris DiRita fared well across the two days of play shooting an even 80 in today's final round. DiRita's best stretch this afternoon came from holes 5-13 playing them at even par. Oliver Liljeblad matched DiRita with a round of 80. The sophomore Lion played holes 4-9 at even par recording pars on all six holes.

Rounding out his first full two-day collegiate tournament was Ethan Beidler who improved by five strokes from day one to two. Beidler earned an 86 out on the course today including birding the par five 12th hole.
 
Up Next:
Albright will have a couple weeks off before returning to action on Tuesday, October 15 at the Battle at Bulle Rock hosted by Arcadia. The Invitational will be played at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace,, Md.
