NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Men's golf is in front after day one of the DeSales Fall Classic. Albright shot a 302 holding a one stroke lead over Kean University and Scranton University.
Filip Hjerten finished day one T8 leading the Lions.
RESULTS
The team 302 score is the second best team round of the season for the Lions. At last year's DeSales Invitational (spring 2025) at the same course, the Lions took second out of 13 teams with a team score of 594 marking one of their lowest team scores in the 2024-25 season.
This year a total of 11 teams is in the field, making up 57 individuals. All five Lions finished with rounds in the 70's today.
Hjerten tied his lowest round of the year with a 74 this afternoon. The sophomore heads into tomorrow's final round inside the top 10 after playing his last 10 holes of today's round at even par.
Nontaphat Veeratecha finished just one stroke behind Hjerten with a round of 75. The round is the fourth straight for Veeratecha which ended in the 70's. Veeratecha caught fire on the back nine birding four holes in a six-hole stretch on his way to a three under back nine.
Sam Elsen ended today with a 76. The 76 is tied for the senior's lowest round of the year and was highlighted by birdies on holes two and 16. Elsen sits just one stroke behind the top 10 heading in to tomorrow.
Ashton McKechan closed his round with a one under par back nine to finish with an 18-hole score of 77. Furthermore, the last 12 holes played by McKechan were played at even par.
Jason DiRita rounded out the strong day for the team with a 79. DiRita has played very well to start his Albright career and today was no different as DiRita looks to climb into the top 10 tomorrow sitting just four strokes behind.
