Albright and Drew University are tied after day one of the DeSales Spring Classic both shooting team scores of 292. Albright and Drew are six strokes clear of third place Scranton heading into day two tomorrow.

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa.  – Men's golf shot one of their best scores in program history today during the opening round of the DeSales Spring Classic. Albright shot a 292 to finish in a tie for first with Drew University. At the end of day one, Albright has four of five golfers in the top ten. The team score sets a new all-time school record for lowest team round.

The DeSales Spring Classic is being held at Olde Homestead Golf Course.

Coach Lamm and coach Kline are extremely proud of the efforts their guys gave today. "The team demonstrated resilience throughout their rounds getting better as the day wore one. As a team we were four under par on the back nine, which is a testament to the five golfers in the lineup of their hard work and determination on and off the course. We will get our rest tonight and aim to finish strong tomorrow."

The 292 team score is a new program record for the Albright's men's golf program. The score is impressive in its own right and especially for the first round for the Lions varsity team this spring.

one of the best team scores in program history and is the best team score in at least the last 15 years for the program. From the start of the fall season, today's round is the fourth that Albright has shot a team score under 300.

Albright entered play today as the second highest rated team in the 13-team field. Albright's current national ranking of 97th is second to only Drew Universities 55th national ranking. Of the 13 teams Albright is the lone MAC Commonwealth member institution in the field. Three MAC Freedom member institutions are competing in Arcadia, DeSales and Lebanon Valley.

Today's 18-hole round marked the opening round of the 2025 spring season for the Lions "A" team. The two-day DeSales Spring Classic is the first of three multiple day tournaments Albright will appear in this season.

Jonatan Liljeblad turned in his best 18-hole score as an Albright Lion during round one. Lilejbald fired his first round under par coming in at 71. Liljeblad will head into tomorrow's day two in solo second. Lilejblad was even through the front nine birding the par three ninth hole. The sophomore Lion kept it rolling on the back nine finishing his round with two birdies on holes 16 and 18.

Charles Bailey finished his round with a two over 73 finishing inside the top 10. Bailey set a new career high for birdies in a round having six of them today. Bailey started his round with back to back birdies. After the opening two birdies Bailey ran into some trouble but was able to settle down and dominate the back nine. On the back nine, Bailey went three under par including playing his last five holes at two under par.

Ben Egin and Sam Elsen both shot rounds of two over par continuing the impressive play throughout all five Lions in the lineup. The duo both shot 74's but had different ways of getting there.

Egin started slow but always has a knack for settling down during his round. At the turn Egin was four over par but shot a 34 coming in with birdies on holes 11, 12 and 17.
Elsen was steady throughout birding holes four and nine.

Evan Twyman rounded out the Lions in action today with a round of 78. Elsen improved on the back nine by four strokes playing holes 12-18 at even par.
