READING, Pa. – Albright softball (3-15) did not have far to travel on Monday afternoon as the team made the short trip across town to square off against Penn State Berks (7-7). The Nittany Lions protected home field and won both ends of today's double header. Game two was called due to impending inclement weather in the top of the sixth inning.
Game 1:
Penn State Berks scored two runs in the home half of the first inning to get out to a 2-0 advantage. The Nittany Lions would then score three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win the first game of the double header, 8-0.
Juliette Licata continues to swing a hot bat at the plate earning a single in today's game. Licata now has a hit in five straight games dating back last week's games against Gallaudet.
Gabriella Weiss picked up a hit giving her 11 hits now on the season for the first-year Lion.
Katie Behler singled in the top of the second inning rounding out the Lions hits in game one.
Madison Lasko was able to get on base twice this afternoon earning two walks at the plate.
Game 2:
The second game ended in the top of the sixth inning due to the weather. The Lions were threatening in the top of the sixth inning only down 1-0.
Ryleigh Prinz walked to lead off the sixth. A sacrifice bunt by
Aliza Langlois advanced the runner to second before the game was ultimately called. Penn State Berks was able to cling to victory and win game two 1-0.
Weiss started on the mound in game two and threw a dazzling five innings. Weiss only surrendered one run while scattering five hits.
The first-year pitcher got 15 outs via fly balls and groundouts. Weiss has six starts this season throwing five or more innings.
Slaydon Fisher added a hit in game two, her 15
th hit of the season overall.
