LEHIGH, Pa. – Albright baseball (2-3) matched up against Division I side Lehigh (3-4) on Tuesday afternoon marking the first game against a DI opponent since the turn of the new century. Lehigh won the contest 20-5 on their home field.
Jack Gilmer continued his torrid start to the season with two more hits this afternoon. Gilmer has multiple hits in four of the five games played. Today, Gilmer went two for three with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.
Roman Berretta is coming off a week where he was named MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week. Berretta is the Lions led off man setting the tone early in the game. The Lion outfielder collected another hit this afternoon to go along with a run scored.
Albright put up a four spot in the fourth inning to cut the Lehigh lead down to 6-5. The later innings saw the Mountain Hawks impose their will to win on their home turf.
Michael Avino has enjoyed a nice start to his Albright Lion career adding another hit this afternoon. Avino has racked up six hits in five games, earning the start in each one.
Christian Eckstein was credited with a hit and a run scored giving the sophomore Lion at least one hit in the team's first four out five games.
Tommy Lewman,
Aidan Sturtevant and
Nathan Golden rounded out the hits for Albright. The single for Golden marked the first hit of his career.
