WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Men's golf continued their fall season on Sunday afternoon beginning the two-day Northeast Elite Shootout at Williamsport Country Club. After day one, the Lions shot a 307 to place in 11
th out of 16 total teams.
RESULTS
Albright entered the competition coming off back-to-back tournament wins. Albright won the Moravian Weyhill Classic on September 15
th and won again a week later at the Northampton cup.
Jonatan Liljeblad led the charge for the Lions on day one shooting his best round of the fall season so far with a 71. The score was good for an eight-place finish after day one. The back nine was played at one under par for Liljeblad who birdied two of the last six holes of the day.
Federico Cobos Kallmann shot his fifth straight round in the 70's coming in at 76. Cobos Kallmann birded two par fives throughout the 18-holes helping himself to a top 40 position after day one. A total of 90 golfers is participating throughout the two days.
Nontaphat Veeratecha shot a 79 marking the fourth round of the fall for Veeratecha that ended in the 70's. The sophomore Lion was strong on the front nine playing it at just one over par.
August Fredrik Alhanko recorded a 79 on the day finishing tied with Veeratecha on the leaderboard. Fredrik Alhanko played his last five holes of the day at even par wrapping up a strong first day.
Evan Twyman finished one stroke behind the aforementioned duo shooting an 80. Twyman birdied the par four seventh hole to highlight his round.
Rounding out the Lions in action was
Charles Bailey. Bailey recorded back-to-back birdies on holes seven and eight to finish his round with an 82.
After day one the Lions sit one stroke behind York College, who is the only other Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth member institution in the field.
