NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Men's golf began their 2026 spring season playing in the DeSales Spring Classic throughout the day on Friday afternoon. Day one saw the Lions finish in second place shooting a team score of 311. Today and tomorrow's round are being played at Olde Homestead Golf Club.
Results
Albright sits in second of eight teams after 18 holes of play. Scranton leads shooting a 308 just three strokes better than Albright. Arcadia is one stroke behind Albright in third.
Filip Hjerten tied for his best round as an Albright Lion shooting a 73 finishing one over par and in second on the individual leaderboard. Hjerten was steady on the front nine and then shot one under on the back nine playing his last 11 holes overall under par. A birdie on the 15
th saw Hjerten shoot a 35 coming in.
Ashton McKechan was the second Lion to finish round one inside the top 10. McKechan is T8 with a round of 78. A total of 44 golfers is in the field this weekend. Helping McKechan to a round of 78 was his play on the par fives playing them at two under par. A birdie on the 15
th saw McKechan finish his round with three.
Charles Bailey and
Oliver Liljeblad each shot rounds of 80 to finish in T11. Bailey was steady throughout parring 12 of the 18 holes while Liljeblad birdied holes one and 14. The round for Liljeblad is his best so far in the 2025-2026 season.
Rounding out the day was
Sam Elsen who finished with an 84. A birdie on the par four seventh highlighted the round for Elsen.
