Dupree, Mitchell & Stanton Receive Men’s Basketball All-Conference Recognition

Phanique Dupree was named Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the first team. Qadir Mitchell was named to the first time while Jeremiah Stanton was named an Honorable Mention.

NEWTOWN, Pa. - Albright Men's Basketball ended another successful season and saw three seniors end their collegiate careers with All-MAC Commonwealth honors. Phanique Dupree took home the Defensive Player of the Year award for the second time in as many seasons while guards Qadir Mitchell and Jeremiah Stanton were named First Team and an Honorable Mention, respectively.

Last season Dupree became the second player in school history to be named Defensive Player of the Year and became the first Lion to receive the award twice after another stellar season. Additionally, Dupree becomes the only player in school history to win a "Conference of the Year" award twice.

The Asbury Park, N.J. native finished fourth in the conference in total rebounds while leading all players with 62 blocks. Dupree leaves Albright as the program's single season blocked shot leader and career all time shot blocker. He set the single season block record a year ago with 90 helping him to 204 career blocks, becoming the only player in school history to record 200 or more blocks.

Mitchell served as an electric focal point for the Lions' offense turning in one of the best scoring seasons in recent memory. Mitchell's 564 points and 21.7 per game average both rank fifth all time while his 66 threes sit at eighth all time in a single season.

The senior scored 10 or more points in every game this season including a career best 37 points in as many minutes in the team's victory over Kean and joined the school's 1,000 points club with 24 points against Stevenson. Mitchell ends his career with 1065 points placing him in 36th all time.

Stanton started all 25 games and ended his senior season with season highs across the board allowing him to be named an Honorable Mention for the second year in a row. Stanton was the main facilitator for the Lions and finished second in the conference in assists which included a season best nine in the team's road victory over Widener to complete a season sweep against the Pride. Stanton ends his Albright career ranked fifth all time in career assists with 336.

All three players were with the team for four seasons combing for 154 starts and were key contributors to a season that saw the program embark on a historic 12-game win streak to close out the regular season.
