TOWSON, Md. – With back-to-back goals in the first five minutes of the match the Gophers of Goucher College (4-5) slipped by men's soccer (5-3) by the final score of 2-1 Wednesday afternoon at Beldon Field.
Netting Albright's lone score of the afternoon was
Shawn Murphy in the 54th minute.
Tyler Waters assisted on the play after crossing the ball to the front of the goal box. For the Gophers, Andrew Bull assisted by goals which were scored by Manuel Carranza and Elijah Lais.
In goal, making his collegiate debut for the Lions was Phil Jones who totaled three saves. David Spivey and Joe Kon combined for eight saves.
Offensively, the Lions dominated play with 24 shots as compared to Goucher's 12. Unfortunately, Albright was unable to capitalize on their opportunities, while the Gophers used their two early scores to end the Lions three-game win streak.
Men's Soccer will return to action next Wednesday when the travel up the road to take on Penn State Berks at 4 p.m.
