Box Score
Despite a hat trick from freshman
Meghan Wilson, the Albright College women's lacrosse team couldn't hold off the Smith College offense as the Lions lost 25-6 on Monday in Shirk Stadium.
Another freshman,
Nicole Rohrbach, dished out three assists and scored once.
Kelsea Guckin had four draw controls.
The Lions were down 4-0 when Wilson (24:22) and
Kim Harkins (22:20) each struck to halve the deficit. After two more Pioneer goals, Rohrbach tallied after exactly 12 minutes of action to make it 6-3 Smith.
Freshman
Tia Claxton keep the deficit at three with perhaps Albright's nicest goal of the day, speeding down the right side, cutting past her defender and then flipping a shot past the goalkeeper to make it 7-4.
Smith would scored the last nine goals of the game however, as the Pioneers' attack proved to be too much to handle.
Albright did hit the post three times, including Wilson on the game's first chance. With 2:45 remaining in the game
Kiersten Keehn ripped a shot off the left post;
Gabrielle Ceballos picked up the rebound and shot off the same upright just a few seconds later.
For their part, the Pioneers hit the woodwork four times as well, including a trio of shots off the crossbar.
Becky Bracken scored four free position goals and finished with seven total goals, two assists and six draw controls.
Mckenzie Hessel also had six draw controls, scored six times, and dished out one assist.
MK Pasini (four goals, assist) and
Jenny Estes (three goals) added hat tricks.
Albright is 3-5 and will travel to Wilkes on Thursday. Smith is 2-2 and visits Alvernia tomorrow before the long trip back to Massachusetts.
