The Albright College softball team swept a doubleheader with Reading's Penn State-Berks on Monday, winning 11-3 (in six innings) and 12-6.
In the opener,
Natalie Carlucci (2-for-4, RBI, run) and
Hillary Rodriguez (2-for-4, RBI, 2 runs) each had multi-hit games for the Lions.
Alysa Romero was 1-for-2 and knocked in four runs.
Albright scored in every inning, including three runs in the third to open up a 5-0 lead. After scoring three times in the top of the sixth, reliver
Melissa Alimonti put the Nittany Lions down 1-2-3 to end the game early on the mercy rule.
Stefany Dusman was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs for Berks, while
Kelsey Halloran and
Kate Harley were each 1-for-2 with a run scored.
In the nightcap, Albright scored seven times in the top of the third to break open what had been a 3-2 game.
Crandall was 2-for-2 and scored a run, while junior
Brandy Lagomarsino was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs. Carlucci was 2-for-5, knocked in a run, and scored once.
Dusman was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, while
Devon Denker went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run.
Allie Frank struck out seven in five innings to take the victory in the opener,
Stephanie Romano took the victory in game two.
Albright improves to 4-6 and will host Moravian on Thursday. Berks falls to 0-14 on the season.
