The Albright College softball team was swept in a home Commonwealth Conference doubleheader on Friday, losing to Lebanon Valley College 1-0 and 7-2.

Only a sixth inning bunt single prevented Lebanon Valley's Kristen Palmerio from throwing a no-hitter in the opener. The LVC senior ended the game with one hit, no walks, two hit batsmen, and four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Melissa Alimonti took the loss but also threw a gem, allowing just three hits, no walks, and one unearned run over seven innings.

In the top of the third, Chelsea Kehr tried to bunt in Chelsea Detwiler, but Alimonti threw her out at home. Palmerio was also pitching a shutout, hitting the lead batter in the fifth but then getting two outs after the Lions sacrificed the runner to second.

Palmerio had a golden chance to help her own cause in the top of the sixth, with runners on the corners and one out, but she popped up to shortstop. LVC still scored the eventual winning run however, when Kehr scored after Steph Hulme was hit with the bases loaded.

With one out in the bottom of the sixth and the Dutchmen now in front, Brandy Lagomarsino's bunt single broke up the no-hitter and put the tying run on base. Palmerio retired the final five batters of the contest however.

Alimonti took the mound again in game two but after four consecutive hits in the top of the first, she gave way for Stephanie Romano.

The Dutchmen would total three runs in that first inning, but Albright didn't take long to get to Palmerio this time, as Nikki Schwenk came up second and hit an infield single, advancing to second on a throwing error.

Albright's Alysa Romero stole home as part of a double-steal with Jackie Bohanan in the bottom of the second. LVC would score seven times in the first three innings however to pull away.

Lebanon Valley head coach Stacey Hollinger won her 300th career game in the opener. Albright is 6-19-1, 2-10 and will travel to Ramapo on Sunday.
