NEWTOWN, Pa. – Qadir Mitchell of the Albright men's basketball team has been named Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Player of the week. The honor is the first in Mitchell's career.
The Lions went 2-0 this past week in conference play to climb back to .500 in the Commonwealth on the season. Albright started the week with a 79-57 win over Messiah and then dominated Alvernia at home, winning 99-78.
Mitchell had a dominant two games for the Lions establishing himself as one of the premier scorers in the Commonwealth.
The senior guard averaged 28.5 points per game in the two contests. He opened the week with 24 points against the Falcons before pouring in 33 points versus Alvernia for his third 30-point outing of the season.
Mitchell shot 59.1 percent from the field, including 7-of-11 from three-point range, and added 4.0 rebounds per game while converting 12-of-14 free throws.
Entering this week Mitchell is third in the Commonwealth in per game scoring averaging 20.0.
